Ontario Local Trips publishes travel guides and local trip information. We do not sell personal information.

Information You Send Us

If you email us, use the contact form, submit a travel story, or upload photos for review, we may receive your email address, name, topic, story text, photo files, and the contents of your message. We use that information to respond to you, review possible publication, and improve the site. Contact and story submissions may be processed by a third-party form service before reaching our inbox.

The RSS feed does not require an account, email address, or personal information from Ontario Local Trips.

If you leave a reader comment on an article, we may store the name and comment you submit. Comments are moderated before appearing publicly so the site stays useful for families and local travellers.

Analytics and Cookies

We also use Ahrefs Web Analytics to measure aggregate website traffic without cookies. It operates separately from optional Google Analytics.

Google Analytics is optional. We do not load the Google Analytics tag unless you explicitly choose “Allow analytics.” Your choice is stored in your browser so the site can remember it. You can change it at any time with the “Privacy choices” button in the footer.

Separately, we keep a first-party aggregate total of page loads to monitor basic traffic. This counter does not use cookies, and we do not retain IP addresses, user agents, visitor identifiers, page paths, or individual browsing history. It is not a unique-visitor count.

The one-time Lake naming statement uses browser storage only to remember that it was dismissed. It also records anonymous daily totals for notice views, dismissal methods, continued site engagement, quick exits, and later return visits, separated only by the Canadian or international naming version displayed. These totals do not store a name, account, IP address, user agent, precise country, page path, or visitor identifier and cannot be used to reconstruct individual browsing histories.

Cloudflare supplies a country code with each page request. We use it transiently to display Lake America to visitors in Canada and the localized Lake America name to visitors outside Canada, including in visible page copy, image descriptions, page titles, search descriptions, and structured data. We do not store that country code or an IP address for this naming choice. The complete statement remains available on the permanent Lake America policy page.

Advertising

We may display ads through third-party advertising partners such as Google AdSense. Advertising partners may use cookies to serve and measure ads. You can manage ad personalization through your browser or Google account settings.
