Fanshawe Pioneer Village brings local history to life in London, Ontario. At Christmas, its heritage buildings and winter setting make an atmospheric outing for families, history lovers and anyone looking for a seasonal day out. These original photographs show an earlier visit; decorations, food vendors, weather and activities change from year to year.

Plan the 2026 Christmas event

Christmas at the Village takes place Saturday, December 5 and Saturday, December 12, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; last entry is 1:30 p.m. Seasonal activities, St. Nick and concerts are listed for both days. The separately ticketed pancake breakfast must be booked in advance. Check the museum’s December 5 event page or December 12 event page for tickets, current details and changes. Details checked November 5, 2026.

Use the event entrance: 2609 Fanshawe Park Road East, at the very end of the road. The normal Conservation Area entrance is closed for this event; make sure your GPS does not take you to the usual Clarke Road entrance.

A Christmas fair in a heritage village

Walking between the buildings, the market scene in our photographs shows visitors browsing stalls on a past winter visit. Vendors and food stalls can be part of the fair atmosphere, but this year’s lineup is not confirmed in the current event listing. For 2026 the museum lists hot cocoa for purchase and a pre-booked breakfast of pancakes and sausages, with coffee, tea and juice. Check the organizer’s event page for the current menu and any additional vendors.

History, English heritage and a village school

The museum interprets London and Middlesex County life from about 1820 to 1920 through historic homes, workplaces, school and community buildings. Victorian-era Christmas traditions reflect influences from Britain, including English heritage, in the region’s history. The village’s broader stories include Indigenous and Black histories too; they are not limited to one community.

Look for the schoolroom and its rows of wooden desks. The village identifies Fanshawe School S.S. 19 as an 1871 school that closed in 1955 and was moved to the village in 1994. Building access varies by event, so check before promising a particular interior.

The historic church and its music

The church shown here is a historic village church rather than a cathedral. The museum’s Trinity Anglican Church dates from around 1887 in Sebringville and was moved to the village in 1997. For Christmas at the Village, the organizer lists a holiday concert in the heated church at 12:30 p.m. each event day, with seating first come, first served. Check the program for performers and changes.

Parking, accessibility and getting there

The museum describes a large, free visitor parking lot, plus accessible parking beside the Spriet Family Visitor Centre. For the December event, enter from Fanshawe Park Road East rather than the normal gate. London Para-Transit serves the site, but the village is not on the regular municipal bus network. Allow extra time for winter driving and parking at busy events.

This is a short drive within London and a practical regional outing from Stratford, St. Marys or Woodstock. Driving times vary with the starting point, weather and traffic; use current directions rather than relying on a fixed estimate. The village has gravel roads, grass paths and historic buildings with uneven floors or thresholds. Dress for outdoor conditions and ask the museum about accessibility and available heated spaces.

More than a Christmas visit

The regular 2026 daily visitor season ended October 12, and the museum lists May 22, 2027 as the next regular-season opening. Seasonal events use their own dates, tickets and sometimes a different entrance; consult the official visitor information and events calendar before travelling.
